Do you have any friends that really are the ‘salt of the earth’? Al Mendenhall is one such friend for me. Four years ago when I first visited Living Water Fellowship in Bulverde Texas, I discovered that almost everyone there thought of Pastor Al as one of their closest friends. It didn’t take long for me to find out why. He is a modern day Barnabas, he sees God’s calling and the potential for ministry in everyone he meets.
In the summer of 2013 I had the pleasure of co-laboring with Pastor Al on a mission to Peru. We spent three weeks together with a team from Living Water Fellowship. Toward the end of the trip we made a stop at Salinaras de Maras- salt mines near Cusco. While there Pastor Al began thinking about the salt of the earth and making connections with the people we had met during our journey in Peru. Here is a video of him sharing those thoughts.
Matthew 5
13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
