Intentional Living
Just Like My Father

by Joseph Graber

Just Like My Father

I did not always want to be just like my father.  But for more than twenty years now there have been a few things that made me want to be like my father.  From earliest childhood memories, my Dad was always working on something: a chainsaw, a typewriter, a sawmill, it was always mechanical in […]

Blessings of 2015

Blessings of 2015

As per our usual New Years Day custom, Stacie and I sat down to review our goals and see how we did on our projects this year.  Turns out that we did not finish any of our film or writing projects.  We spent a lot of time working on them.  We made huge strides of […]

Is Suffering God’s Will?

by Joseph Graber

Is Suffering God's Will?

It’s a question that most of us have asked at some point, is suffering God’s will?  You’re standing at a graveside, pondering the life choices that led to the early death of a loved one and some well meaning person will say, “Well, it was the will of God”.  But deep inside you wonder, “But […]

Consistency

by Joseph Graber

Consistency

Consistency. The thickness of paint, or the regularity of doing something.  Normally I think of consistency as doing something on a regular basis,  but having a growing son has helped me think of consistency in a different way. Peter has been a world traveler in his two and a half years.  Peru,  France, Switzerland, Italy, and all […]

The Battle

by Joseph Graber

The Battle

Sometimes in the thick of the battle you can forget who your enemy is.  That happened to me recently.  Actually, it happens to me more often than I care to admit.  I love my family dearly, but all to often I find the old nature trying to dig in to protect my flesh.  Those are […]

Happy Mother’s Day

by Joseph Graber

Happy Mother's Day

This morning at church we sang this song in honor of Mother’s Day. This evening we decided to record it for our mothers- Peter and Eric’s Grammy and Mamaw. We are so blessed to have Mothers who pray for us! Thank You Mama for Praying for Me Somebody somewhere was praying that night When Jesus […]

My Twin Sister

by Joseph Graber

My Twin Sister

Every once in a while I find something in one of my sketch books or notebooks that I think is worth sharing on this blog; the following was a note I posted on Facebook several years ago. My sister Ruth has been visiting us this weekend and we were remembering this post so I thought […]

Praying for Nero

by Joseph Graber

Praying for Nero

If you had been a Christian living in Rome during his reign, would you have been praying for Nero? This is a good question to consider.  Nero was Emperor in Rome from the years 54 to 68.  He was fairly young at the time he became Emperor and was known for killing a lot of […]

The Living Word of God: Part One

by Joseph Graber

The Living Word of God: Part One

I am so grateful for the Word of God!  I also get very excited about the concept that Jesus is the Word made flesh- He is the Living Word of God. In the 1980’s when I first tried to read the Bible I read it in German.  At that time I could not understand what […]

Loving Stacie

Loving Stacie

Today is Valentine’s Day.  Duh, right?  But four years ago today I asked Stacie to marry me and my life has been absolutely blessed ever since.  Loving Stacie is one of the best decisions I have ever made- and continue making each day. But don’t expect this blog post to be very long, just watch […]

Living In A Nation Under Judgement

by Joseph Graber

Living In A Nation Under Judgement

What is the proper response to living in a nation under judgement from God? I was reminded about this question when Stacie and I were out on Enchanted Rock with Timothy and Katie this weekend.  We had explored the cave and were headed back to our car by a new route off the southeast side […]

Lost In the Fog?

by Joseph Graber

Lost In the Fog?

One morning recently the view from my front porch was lost in the fog, so I decided to blog about fog.  Didn’t Washington cross the Delaware under cover of fog and gain a surprise victory?  Didn’t fog protect Allied troops from the bombs of the Luftwaffe during ‘The Miracle of Dunkirk‘ in World War II?   Initially, I thought […]

Loving Commitment

by Joseph Graber

Loving Commitment

Loving Commitment. Two words.  Whether you see them as adjectives, adverbs, verbs, or nouns, these two words really encapsulate something that has been growing in my life. Especially in these past two years. Before I met Stacie, I had a lot of things that Americans idolize.  I had freedom.  My options were open.  I could […]

Sunrise On 2013

Sunrise On 2013

I watched the sun rise on 2013 from where I am in Fredericksburg, Texas. I’m here for several months working on a film project and the view from my front porch is phenomenal. This is a photo of a recent sunrise from the front porch of our little apartment. As we are starting  a new […]

The Cathedral Concept

by Joseph Graber

The Cathedral Concept

The Cathedral Concept is a life perspective that focuses on our purpose here on earth and our reward once we arrive in heaven.  We used this concept to encourage the crew of Indescribable during production.  During post production it was especially helpful as weeks of editing turned into months of editing and re-editing. That is what the […]

Fatherhood: Long Term vs. Short Term Holiness

by Joseph Graber

Fatherhood: Long Term vs. Short Term Holiness

Fatherhood: A Long Awaited Desire I have looked forward to fatherhood for a long time.  First from a natural, almost instinctive desire to have children of my own.  Second, because raising godly offspring seems to be one of the most effective ways to advance the Kingdom and influence the culture for Christ.  When my little […]

Intentional Living or Pinball Marble?

by Joseph Graber

Intentional Living or Pinball Marble?

Intentional Living or Good Accidents? Are you the pinball operator or the marble?  Are you practicing Intentional Living or are you being bounced around like a pinball marble? Do any of you remember the free pinball game that used to come with Windows operating systems? I used to play that frustrating thing a lot. Other […]

Excerpt from my Notebook (from 8-7-10)

Excerpt from my Notebook (from 8-7-10)

“God’s calling then, is to communicate Him. He is the truth, therefore I must radiate truth. God is love, therefore I must radiate love. God is beauty and holiness, therefore I must radiate beauty and holiness. God is enough, therefore I must radiate contentment. These are all things that I cannot do with my hands, it is only the Holy Spirit that can perform this amazing communications feat. He is my eternal place of rest, therefore I must abide in Him and He in me or my life is vain.

The Fruits of the Spirit

by Joseph Graber

The Fruits of the Spirit

This was a fun chalk drawing to do. If you look the red part of the watermelon is heart shaped. That is where the talk started- the condition of the human heart. The cross represents salvation and the dark spots (seeds) represent problems of the old flesh in our lives. The inner rind (light green, yellow) […]

Fear and Faith

by Joseph Graber

Fear and Faith

On a good day when everything is going well I would tell you, if you asked me, that fear was sin. If you asked me the same question on a day of darkness, when the future looks uncertain and I really don’t know what is happening or going to happen,  I might tell you that fear may […]
